BAND CAMP: JENNY BERKEL AND DEMETRA + LAKE FOREST

Our Summer School programming got off to a great start last Thursday with our first Band Camp program featuring Jenny Berkel and Demetra. The travelling duo made the OCAD U Student Gallery the only Toronto stop on their self described Spring Fling tour across Canada, which made us feel super special. Currently at the Student Gallery is an exhibition featuring highlights from the university's permnant collection. With GradEx and the wrap-up of OCAD U's 135th anniversary celebrations, we thuoght a historical show was timely. The school's own works by Painters Eleven members Jack Bush and Tom Hodgson are featured at the front of the gallery and are well worth seeing. The Hodgson, which was recently donated to the school, is particularly striking and absorbing. All the works in the show are unmarked, as our aim is to convey the feeling of rummaging around in the school's collection. ...

Thanks to everyone who came out to our ELECTRIC CIRCUS closing reception, which took the form of an EC revival dance party. Everyone looked amazing and we all busted out some pretty sweet moves. Thank you especially to DJ STREETS for playing our favourite 90's tracks and to Renzi in AV for making our killer looping, Youtube throw-back video projection. When in doubt, put on some neon and DANCE, DANCE, DANCE!! Neon love forever.

Tonight is the ELECTRIC CIRCUS closing reception dance party (8-11pm)!! DJ STREETS will obviously be spinning tracks inspired by Much Music's own EC, which also used to happen on Friday nights. So dig up you florescent, shiny, Le Chateaux finery and turn UP your DANCE MIX 95!! OCAD U Student Gallery programmers, Caroline and Vanessa, have been nostalgic this week, getting pumped for the dance party by remembering their bygone nineties hey-day...Hence the scanned in diary pages!!

The OCAD U Student Shop is set to launch! We're celebrating with an launch party, which will happen in conjunction with the exhibition reception for 'To Precipitate Shadow' on February 23 (6-8pm).
